Two Juveniles charged as adults in murder of New Richmond man

Clermont County Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve announces that two juveniles, Nolan Wright (DOB 9/25/08) and Caythen Grundy (DOB 9/1/09), were indicted today for charges including Aggravated Murder and Aggravated Robbery relating to the death of Jayden Nelson of New Richmond.
On March 8, 2026, law enforcement officers responded to Bethel New Richmond Rd., Clermont County, Ohio in reference to a possible fatal hit and run. On arrival, Jayden Nelson, 19, was found dead in the roadway.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Clermont County Coroner’s Office, noted irregularities that did not align with a hit and run. An autopsy conducted by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office determined that Jayden Nelson’s actual cause of death was a gunshot to the head. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Surveillance Analysis and Forensic Evidence Unit (S.A.F.E. Unit), a new state-of-the-art forensics lab run by the Clermont County Sheriff’s and Clermont County Coroner’s Offices worked jointly to investigate the case.
Together, the units were able to identify two juveniles, Nolan Wright and Caythen Grundy, and one adult, Dakarai Campbell, age 19, as the individuals alleged to be responsible for the murder of Jayden Nelson.
Dakarai Campbell was previously indicted for his role in the offense on April 9, 2026. His case is currently pending with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for September 24, 2026.
The cases against Wright and Grundy were initially charged through Clermont County Juvenile Court. The Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office filed a Motions to Relinquish Jurisdiction, which were held on May 22, 2026. On July 8, 2026, the Motions to Relinquish Jurisdiction were granted by the Clermont County Juvenile Court. The cases against Wright and Grundy will now be heard in the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas.
If convicted, Wright and Grundy face potential sentences of life in prison.
