DAYCARE WORKER INDICTED ON MULTIPLE CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN
Clermont County Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve announces that earlier today a Grand Jury indicted 18-year-old Batavia Township man, Christopher Helmer, on 5 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition and 1 count of Grooming both involving the same 5-year-old child, as well as 10 unrelated counts of Pandering in Sexually Oriented Material Involving a Minor.
On March 26, 2026, detectives with the Pierce Township Police Department were contacted by Jelly Bean Junction Daycare Center to report that their employee, Christopher Helmer, had been terminated for inappropriate contact with a child.
The investigation revealed that Helmer, while working at the facility, had inappropriate sexual contact with a five-year-old child kissing the child on the lips on multiple occasions. Two incidents were observed by another staff member who immediately reported the incidents to supervisors. There is no evidence that Helmer had inappropriate contact with any other child at the daycare.
Detectives responded to Helmer’s residence in Batavia Township and conducted an interview. Helmer admitted to kissing the child and taking and saving multiple photos of the child. Helmer also admitted to downloading and viewing images and videos depicting Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Because the material was downloaded in Batavia Township, detectives with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office initiated a separate investigation. During that investigation, Helmer admitted to downloading numerous files over an extended period and stated that the victims depicted were approximately five years old. It also became clear from the photos on his electronics that Helmer has a diaper fetish. He admitted to deleting files, including those involving the daycare victim, to avoid detection.
Helmer was subsequently indicted for Tampering with Evidence for deleting the CSAM from his phone.
Upon examination of Helmer’s electronic devices, a forensic examination performed by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Analysis and Forensic Evidence Unit (S.A.F.E. Unit) revealed multiple files depicting minors engaged in sexual activity with adults. The forensic examination also showed that Helmer had googled the victim’s address more than 20 times in an attempt to find out where she lived. The Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office coordinated with both the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and the Pierce Township Police Department to present the sex offense charges to the Grand Jury.
Helmer was previously taken into custody and remains incarcerated at the Clermont County Jail on a $750,000 cash/surety bond. His arraignment will be Friday, April 17th at 10:00 in the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas.
“Daycares are where hard-working parents take their children hoping and praying they will be well cared for and protected. Helmer betrayed that most sacred trust of these parents. The Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office investigates and prosecutes individuals charged with sex crimes against children on a daily basis. I promise the community that we will aggressively and tirelessly prosecute criminals who prey on children.
