Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney Mark J. Tekulve announces the indictment of Curtis Clifford Johnson on March 27, 2025. After committing and fleeing from a shooting on March 22, 2025, Johnson now faces five separate counts, including two counts of Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree; one count of Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree; one count of Improperly Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree; and one count of Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the third degree. The Felonious Assault charges also include various firearm specifications. All counts, in total, subject Johnson to a possibility of almost twenty (20) years in prison.

The indictment alleges that on March 22, 2025, Johnson arrived at the victim’s residence, uninvited, at which time a verbal altercation ensured. After arriving and without ever exiting his vehicle, Johnson shot the victim in the foot during that dispute. The victim was treated at the hospital and is recovering after receiving medical treatment.

After the shooting, Johnson then fled from the scene returning to his residence. Once at his residence Johnson ditched the firearm used in the offense and fled the scene initially evading police. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office worked tirelessly to apprehend Johnson as well as to secure and process multiple scenes. Sheriff Stratton and his Investigation Unit should be commended for their hard work to apprehend and secure Johnson.

The defendant will be arraigned Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m in the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas.
