CINCINNATI MAN CONVICTED IN 2019 MURDER OF WOMAN AT CLERMONT COUNTY DAYS INN

Clermont County

Today, Clermont County Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve announced that Monday, August 11, 2025, at the conclusion of a 6-day trial, a Clermont County jury convicted 44-year-old, Jabar Ishmail of one count of Aggravated Murder, and one count of Murder.

On March 14, 2019, Officer with the Union Township Police Department responded to multiple calls from the Days Inn concerning a man in the lobby stating he had been the victim of an assault. The man claiming to be assaulted was Jabar Ishmail. While officers and paramedics treated Ishmail, hotel staff located a woman in the room registered to Ishmail who had been stabbed multiple times. Officers and Detectives with the Union Township Police Department worked tirelessly for several days collecting hundreds of pieces of evidence, and were ultimately able to prove that Ishmail attacked, beat, and stabbed the victim over 18 times.

During the trial Chief Assistant Prosecutor Lara Baron Allen, and Assistant Prosecutors Clay Tharp and Zachary Zipperer presented the testimony of over a dozen witnesses, and several hundred exhibits to the jury. After an hour and a half of deliberation the jury returned guilty verdicts on both Aggravated Murder and Murder.

For his guilty convictions, Ishmail faces a maximum possible sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Ishmail will be sentenced on September 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Kevin T. Miles.

“The Union Township Police Department put together one of the most thorough and comprehensive investigations I have ever seen on this case. I am proud of the work of law enforcement, as well as the Assistant Prosecutors on this case. Both agencies came together to ensure that justice was served for the victim in this case. My office is committed to sending a message that violent crime will not be tolerated in this community.” – Mark J. Tekulve, Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney.
