Welcome to the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office

The Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office is works hard to provide the citizens of Clermont County with an effective criminal justice system. The office represents the rights and interests of the citizens, office holders, and victims of Clermont County.

This office provides legal representation and serves as legal advisor to all of Clermont County’s elected officials and township boards.

The position of Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney is authorized by ORC Chapter 309. This chapter authorizes the county prosecuting attorney to:

“…inquire into the commission of crimes within the county. The prosecuting attorney shall prosecute, on behalf of the state, all complaints, suits and controversies in which the state is a party…and other suits, matters and controversies that the prosecuting attorney is required to prosecute within or outside the county, in the probate court, court of common pleas, and court of appeals. In conjunction with the attorney general, the prosecuting attorney shall prosecute in the supreme court cases arising in the prosecuting attorney’s county.”

The Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office is comprised of the Criminal Division, both Municipal and Common Pleas, the Civil Division, the Appellate Division, and the Juvenile Court Division.

Mediation

The Mediation Program is a division of the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office. It was created in June 1987 to handle misdemeanor complaints filed by private citizens. The Mediation Program offers individuals the opportunity to sit down at a hearing with the offender and a mediator to discuss the problem(s) they are having. Mediation allows both parties a chance to state their side of an incident and attempt to resolve the matter without going to court.

The Mediation Program is located at 4432 State Route 222, Batavia, Ohio 45103. The office is located inside the Clermont County Municipal Courthouse. To reach the Mediation Department, please call 732-7112.
